Google Assistant

I led a team of designers and researchers building the tools developers, voice-UI designers, and partners use to create apps for the Google Assistant — from the Actions Console to the Actions SDK.

As founding designer of the Conversational Actions Platform, I took it from a paper concept to a top-level Assistant OKR. The Actions Console launched and was presented at Google I/O 2018.

01

Actions Developer Console

The front door for developers extending the Assistant — a welcome that explains the ecosystem, a guided flow to pick an Action type and name the project, and a dashboard that lays out the path from idea to a live, tested Action.

02

Conversation builder — Interaction model

A visual way to author conversations without writing the orchestration by hand. Designers wire scenes and invocations, train intents with natural-language phrases, collect parameters through slot filling, and shape each turn's prompt and transitions.

03

Conversation builder — Simulator

Test an Action across surfaces before shipping. Talk or type to it on a phone or smart speaker, follow the turn-by-turn event trace, and inspect the raw request, response, and SSML audio behind every reply.
